(R-L) Director Jia Zhangke and cast members Joan Chen and Zhao Tao attend the premiere of "24 City," the only Chinese competitor for "Golden Palm," at the ongoing Cannes Film Festival on Saturday, May 17, 2008. The film's crew observed a minute of silence for victims of the deadly earthquake on May 12 in southwestern China's Sichuan Province. "24 City" was shot in Sichuan's provincial capital Chengdu, the nearest major city to the epicenter. Jia Zhangke has reportedly donated 30,000 yuan (US$4,284) to quake relief efforts.
