A statue of the Thinker, one of the most famous masterpieces of French sculptor Auguste Rodin, was unveiled on Saturday in a northeast China city park.
The statue, unveiled in the World Sculpture Park in Changchun, capital of Jilin Province. was cast from the fifth mould for the Thinker, representing an image of a strong man who is sitting in a contemplative mood, as if he is thinking hard about the vexations of human being.
Francois Blanchetiere, Paris-based Rodin Museum curator, said at the unveiling ceremony: "Art is an universal language in the world. I believe that Chinese spectators can also appreciate Rodin's Thinker. "
"Everyone has his own interpretation of the Thinker, someone considers him as a man who is full of energy, and someone thinks that he is a wise man. I think that is the reason why this statue has such a strong fascination."
The Thinker Statue has five moulds. And 46 castings of them have been made worldwide.
