Almost every star attending the 2008 Metro Showbiz Hit Awards was entitled to a prize on Wednesday night, Web portal sina.com.cn reports.

Unlike past ceremonies, in which one person dominated the awards, this year's event awarded prizes to singers old and new.

Eason Chan, a veteran Hong Kong singer and actor, won five titles, including the Most Hit Singles. The Most Popular Singer went to familiar faces Joey Yung, Anson Hu and Richie Ren.

Rising force IRENE-A claimed the Most Hit Albums for the band's "Canning's Blues & Songs by the Beatles."

The ceremony also featured many new stars born from singing contests, such as mainland singer Chen Chusheng and Jam Xiao Jing Teng from Taiwan. Chen was awarded the Most Promising Singer title.
