Chinese rock veteran Cui Jian took part in an outdoor live performance on Sunday in Shanghai, which featured the glory of China's leading contemporary rock musicians, the Oriental Daily reported.

The free outdoor rock gig, also a special treat on the agenda of the 10th Shanghai International Arts Festival, gathered key rock icons like band Tang Chao (or Tang Dynasty), Siqin Gerile, a female rocker from Inner Mongolia, and Wang Xiaokun, a budding singer and songwriter.

This rock gala was also the first of its kind held in Shanghai. Music fans in the city packed the venue with rare passion and hurrah.

The crowd were almost brought onto top of the world when Cui Jian re-presented his "Nothing to My Name" (yi wu suo you), a widely-recognized classic hit, and the ballad "Girl in the Greenhouse" (hua fang gu niang).
