Reese Witherspoon wants to star in an action film.

The Oscar-winning actress would love to become an action hero like Angelina Jolie, and would even consider hitting the gym to get the right physique for the part.

The diminutive star is quoted as saying: "I would like to do an action movie. I love to watch Angelina Jolie in movies like 'Mr. and Mrs. Smith'.

"I think movies where women have great strength and character are interesting. I'm dying to do one."

Reese recently revealed her nine-year-old daughter Ava gets embarrassed by her mother's singing.

The 32-year-old star said: "I love to sing around the house and in the car, but my daughter hates it. She said, 'Mom I really appreciate you taking me to the concert, but will you please not embarrass me in front of Carrie Underwood by singing because she's a real singer and you're just, like a movie singer.' "

Reese also has a five-year-old son, Deacon. Both children are from her marriage to actor Ryan Philippe.
