Paul Weller was named best male solo artist. Bookmaker William Hill suspended betting earlier this week after a flurry of wagers on the former Jam star aroused suspicions.

Other winners included Katy Perry, who won best international female, and Iron Maiden, the veteran heavy metal group who won best live act thanks to an internet voting campaign conducted by their fans.
