Amy Winehouse's home record studio

Amy Winehouse is reportedly spending £2 million on a recording studio for her new home.

The "Back To Black" singer is expected to splash out the staggering sum to allow her to work on new material in private. Amy is also planning to spend money on replacing equipment and instruments which were recently stolen.

A source said: "She doesn't want to have to go to a public studio to record her new album, where she'll get photographed all the time, so she's looking into getting a set-up at home.

"She recorded loads of tracks while in Camden. She wanted a similar set-up."

Amy, 25, recently moved to a townhouse in Barnet, North London, after returning from an extended holiday in the Caribbean.

She moved away from the London district of Camden to be closer to her mother Janis, who is helping her quit drugs.

Amy is expected to resume work on tracks with producer Mark Ronson for a tribute album to legendary pop producer Quincy Jones. Their collaboration was interrupted when Amy went to St. Lucia.

Meanwhile Janis - who suffers from multiple sclerosis - is recovering after falling over at the singer's house.

A source said: "The incident was a real shock for Amy. She is really protective of her mum and wants to show her she has beaten her demons. She's worried she has added to her problems.

"Janis fell backwards and collapsed on the concrete driveway. It looked like a heavy fall but, thankfully, Amy's bodyguards and personal assistant were on hand to help her to her feet. It seems she is now on the mend."
