Salma Hayek

Actress Salma Hayek may be playing lead actress in an upcoming adaptation of the book "News of a Kidnapping", written by Columbian author Gabriel Garcia Marquez, film producer Eduardo Costantini revealed.

The Argentinean producer said Mexican director Pablo Pedro Ibarra would be making the film with fellow compatriot Salma Hayek, the shooting of which is scheduled to start in October in Bogota and Mexico.

Constantini said, "Salma Hayek is very interested in the project, has read the script and is enthusiastic but has not yet signed up officially for the part."

The 1996 book is a factual account of the kidnapping of 10 journalists by notorious Colombian drug trafficker Pablo Escobar.
