Cui Jian headlines opening day of Midi Fest

The 2009 Midi Music Festival opened in Zhenjiang city of eastern China on May 1. This year marks the 10th birthday of the established Midi fest, the biggest music binge in China. Landing in Beijing in 2000, it's the first time the well-known festival has moved away from its birth place.

Chinese rock veteran Cui Jian headlined the opening day of the three-day event. Besides Cui, Norwegian band Turdus, British pop-punk band Mike TV, Chinese band Thin Man were also the highlights of the day.
