People Go First (Renmin Zhishang), a documentary on the May 12 earthquake that hit Sichuan Province last year, premiered on May 4 and will hit TV screens on May 12, the first anniversary of the disaster.

Presented by Central Newsreel and Documentary Film Studio, the 96-minute film gives an overall view of the earthquake that left about 90,000 people dead or missing.

The film also features President Hu Jintao and Premier Wen Jiabao, who visited Sichuan five and six times respectively during the disaster. The crew of the state-owned documentary studio was among the first journalists to arrive at the wrecked towns, accompanying Hu and Wen and capturing many exclusive scenes.

Set up in 1938, Central Newsreel and Documentary Film Studio is known for producing a number of quality documentaries on major historical events and the lives and work of distinguished statesmen.
