Who's in

Award-winning actress Zhou Xun is to be the spokesperson of an environmental protection campaign "Less is More", which calls for simple lifestyle changes to reduce carbon footprints.

"More and more people are aware of the environment problem but many feel powerless to alleviate it," says Cai Yansong, director of China Green Foundation, which is behind the campaign.

"They see the reduction of carbon emissions as something to be tackled by government and big industry.

"In fact, if everyone changes their lifestyle they can collectively overcome the problems. We hope Zhou Xun can use her prominent profile as a popular entertainment star to deliver this message."

The campaign will also include a cycle race next month, followed by a competition and exhibition of designs on waste products in August.

Songwriter Kelly Cha has written a campaign song, The Most Beautiful Global, and 14 pop stars, including Hu Haiquan, Han Hong, Yang Kun, Chen Chusheng and others will sing it.
