Zhang Yimou

Chinese filmmaker Zhang Yimou has been named honorary director of the first post office branch on Tian'anmen Square in Beijing, the Beijing News reported.

Zhang received the honor for directing the country's 60th anniversary celebrations which will take place on the square on October 1.

The post office, which opened on Wednesday, provides domestic and overseas mail services. It also sells commemorative stamps, coins and postcards marking the 60th anniversary of China's founding.
