My Dream, a show presented by the China Disabled People's Performing Art Troupe, was staged at the Beijing Poly Theater from July 17-19.

A total of 104 artists, all with hearing, visual or physical impairments, performed an array of songs, dances, dramas and Peking opera acts in the show. The troupe is especially famous for the Thousand-hand Bodhisattva dance by the hearing impaired. Other acts, including the dance To See Spring and a folk instrumental performance by the visually impaired, were also part of the program.

The troupe came to life in 1987, hoping to promote creativity in the arts. My Dream was produced in 2000, with the aspiration of being "unique, elegant and beautiful." The troupe is now in its fourth edition of the show and has produced DVDs, CDs and books of the world-famous performance.

Since 2002, the troupe has been busy touring and performing to promote Chinese culture. It has traveled abroad to more than 60 countries and stages about 150 shows every year.

The show was held for three days at the Poly Theater and is one of the many cultural events organized by the Ministry of Culture to mark the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.
