This year is the 40th anniversary of the famous Woodstock Festival, which became a soul-stirring symbol of love and freedom and a symbol of beauty and fashion to an entire generation. INMUSIC magazine will hold an Inmusic Festival August 7-9 to both commemorate Woodstock and also to help in popularizing Chinese Rock Music.

This music festival will cover the largest area on the vast grassland, with totally unpolluted air to breathe, the largest number of stars, the most delicious food. Its organizers say it will come closest to capturing the spirit of Woodstock while being the greatest music festival in China's history.

The Inmusic Festival has invited many super bands and stars such as New Pants, Queen Sea Big Shark, Xu Wei, Zhang Xuan and her band Alage. Three stages will host the 60-plus bands performing. The high profile of the festival means many stars have been eager to participate; "Happy Girl" Zeng Yike may also show up.

Zhangbei Grasslands are located 220km from Beijing, near Zhangjiakou in Hebei Province, and the Inner Mongolian border. This 250-acre area of uninterrupted prairie, where clear blue skies by day turn to a display of sparkling stars at night, is just a two-hour drive (or three-hour train ride) from the capital.

With its close proximity to Inner Mongolia, as well as playing a prominent role during the Yuan Dynasty, it’s not surprising that horses are an important feature of these grasslands. So, as a break from the music, fans will be able to go horseback riding, in addition to kite-flying, watching films, horoscope readings, a marketplace, and five-a-side football competition. Catering to all tastes, there will be a number of different foods available at the festival grounds – pizza, hamburgers, BBQ, lamb kabobs (a local specialty), Chinese-style fast food and more. In addition, alcoholic offerings will include beer, Bacardi and red wine.
