Lesson Thirty-five Booking travel tickets


Booking travel tickets in China is simple. You can either get them through the guesthouse or hotel that you're staying at, or directly from airline offices and railway stations. You'll need to fill in a registration form stating the name or names of the persons traveling, number of persons traveling, time of departure, train or flight numbers and terminals.

mài kè: zhè cì lǚ xíng nĭ zhǔn bèi qù năr?
麦克: 这次旅行你准备去哪?
Mike: Where are you going to this time?
Lì li: wǒ dă suàn xiān qù guăng zhōu, zài qù hăi nán dăo.
丽丽: 我打算先去广州,再去海南岛。
Lili: I am going to Guangzhou first, and then to Hainan Island.
mài kè: nĭ zĕn me qù? Zuò huǒ chē hái shì zuò fēi jī?
麦克: 你怎么去?坐火车还是坐飞机?
Mike: How are you getting there, by train or by airplane?
Lì li: zuò huǒ chē. Wo dĕi yù dìng huǒ chē piào.
丽丽: 坐火车。我得预订火车票。
Lili: By train, and I had to book my ticket in advance.
mài kè: nĭ yù dìng tè kuài hái shì zhí kuài? yìng wò hái shi ruăn wò?
麦克: 你预订特快还是直快?硬卧还是软卧?
Mike: Did you make a booking for the express train or through train? A hard berth or soft one?
Lì li: yù dìng tè kuài ruăn wò.
丽丽: 预订特快软卧。
Lili: The express train and soft berth.
mài kè: shén me shí hòu kĕ yĭ qǔ piào?
麦克: 什么时候可以取票?
Mike: When can you collect your ticket?
Lì li: tí qián liăng tiān huò sān tiān.
丽丽: 提前两天或三天。
Lili: Two or three days before I'm scheduled to leave.
mài kè: zhù nĭ lǚ tú yú kuài!
麦克: 祝你旅途愉快!
Mike: Have a nice trip!
Lì li: xiè xie! Wǒ huì gĕi nĭ dài lĭ wù huí lái.
丽丽: 谢谢!我会给你带礼物回来。
Lili: Thanks! I'll bring gifts for you.
旅行 lǚ xíng: trip 准备 zhǔn bèi:to prepare (for)
火车 huǒ chē: train 飞机 fēi jī:airplane
预定 yù dìng:to book (in advance) 车票 chē piào:ticket
特快 tè kuài:express train 直快 zhí kuài:through train
硬卧 yìng wò: hard berth 软卧 ruăn wò:soft berth
提前 tí qián:in advance 旅途 lǚ tú:trip; journey
愉快 yú kuài:happy, nice 礼物 lĭ wù:gift, present
