Dalai's Taiwan Trip for Separatism, Money

The Dalai Lama's so-called "tour of mercy and wisdom" in Taiwan, which ended Monday, was nothing but a trip aimed at splitting the motherland and raising funds.

Xinhua News Agency made this conclusion in a commentary Tuesday, exposing that the Dalai has left the island province with a big sum of money and knowledge on separatism he learned from discussions with pro-independence forces in Taiwan.

In March 1997, when the Dalai made his first visit in Taiwan, he collected more than 17 million NT dollars and this time, he pocketed 15 million NT dollars from four days of religious lectures, the commentary said.

The money will help ease the financial difficulties of the Dalai's "exiled Tibetan government" as well as providing funds for him to continue his advocacy of "Tibet independence", the commentary said.

The commentary said during his first Taiwan trip, the Dalai tried to conceal his real purpose. But this time, he openly collaborated with pro-independence forces by meeting with Taiwan leaders and top separatists like Lee Teng-hui.

However, both the Dalai Clique and the Taiwan Authorities have failed to acquire international recognition and support for their pro-independence activities, the commentary said.

The commentary said the only way out for the two is to recognize that both Tibet and Taiwan are parts of China and to give up the attempts to split the motherland.
