Hangzhou to Invest Heavily to Promote Tourism

Starting from this year, the Hangzhou Municipal Government will raise some 40 million yuan(US$4.83 million) each year to promote the tourism industry of the famous tourist city, known as "paradise on the earth", sources from relevant departments of Hangzhou, capital city of east China's Zhejiang province said on Tuesday.

At the same time, Hangzou will also take measures to change the situation that the trade sector and the tourism industry have long been separated and to strengthen the cooperation between the two sectors in promoting the tourism of the city, the sources said.

Hangzhou is famous tourist city, however, it fails to compete with other domestic cities in the packaging and promotion of tourism industry.

The insufficiency in thinking, investment, mechanism and means has resulted in that Hangzhou enjoys a less popular reputation in European and US tourism markets compared with its domestic counterparts.
