Tsinghua vs. Cambridge in Boat Race

The Tsinghua vs. Cambridge Boat Race will be staged at the Kunyu River in Beijing on Saturday, a contest between two prestigious universities in China and Britain.

It is the first ever boat race between Chinese and Britain universities and is was designed to greet the one-year countdown to the 21st World University Games, to be held next year in Beijing.

The Cambridge University sent an 11-member squad, including four among the team which won the well-known Oxford vs. Cambridge Boat Race early this year.

The Qinghua team, whose history could date back to the 1950s, also beat Peking University in a Chinese version of the Boat Race in May to qualify for the competition.
