Dunhuang Collection First Put on Show in Beijing

To mark the centennial discovery of Sutra Caves of Dunhuang Grottoes, "Unveiled Originals, Centennial Dunhuang" have been put on display at the National Library (NL) starting from August 16 till the end of this year in Beijing.

Put on show at the NL is a priceless collection of 160,000 or about 1/3 of Dunhuang originals found extant in the world.

The exhibition is divided into five sections: The first part reveals in photos and objects the history, geography and living environment highlighting Dunhuang's past resplendence.

The second part tells stories about the discovery of Sutra Caves and Dunhuang originals in other countries and regions.

The third section features a batch of precious documents and objects under the collection of NL. The fourth section is a part showing people for the first time the biggest appeal for over 60 originals, books, calligraphy, scripts, manuscripts, objects and printed matters representing Dunhuang's colorful past.

The last section presents a bountiful yield of academic studies on Dunhuang being studied over the century in China and abroad.
