Hong Kong Chief Heads to Macau for Handover Anniversary

Hong Kong Chief Executive Tung Chee-hwa on Tuesday headed to Macau to attend the first anniversary of the former Portuguese territory's handover to China, a government spokeswoman said.

Tung, leading a delegation including chief justice Andrew Kwok and chief secretary Anson Chan, left by helicopter to the enclave.

Chinese President Jiang Zemin is also attending Wednesday's anniversary celebrations,

Others in the delegation were Leung Chun-ying, convenor of Tung's cabinet, the Executive Council, and Rita Fan, the president of Legislative Council.

Their departure was set to coincide with that of Jiang.
