Invited by local government, Dr. Duan Ning and Chen Fu, Dean of China Environment Research Institute, gave the first lesson on ISO 14000 environment administration mechanism to Dujiangyan official cadres and staffs on Nov. 9, symbolizing the official launching of the county's application program for the international environment administration standard.
Stipulated by ISO (International Standard Organization), the ISO 14000 is a standard for testing the overall environment management and pollution prevention which is also concerned as an international "green" brand and the pass for international trade.
Dujiangyan is make every effort to achieve the organization's confirm by June 30, 2001.
Dujiangyan is the first sightseeing county to apply for the standard in China.
