Longest-Range Rocket Launcher Unveiled in China

China has developed a new rocket launcher -- WS-1B with the longest range in the world at 360 kilometers and a lethal radius 450 meters.

Upgraded from a 180-kilometre-range model, the new WS-1B incorporates a series of advanced military technology including global satellite positioning system and TV and laser curve-adjusting system, and is poised to be China's model with the largest caliber.

Equipped with powerful fire bombs, shrapnel and other high-capacity bombs, WS-1B can pose a great threat to enemy, experts said.

Analysts say the new model's 360-kilometre range, coinciding with the average width of the Taiwan Straits of 200 kilometers plus the widest part of Taiwan Island at 160 kilometers, could prove to be a powerful weapon to thwart the elements in the island who want to separate it from the motherland.
