China on Right Path of Promoting Human Rights: Lin

A Chinese human rights organization leader Wednesday said that China has chosen a right path in promoting its human rights, winning support from the people in China and the world at large.

"The United States is doomed to failure in this aspect as it clings to the cold-war mentality, pursues new hegemonism, runs counter to the progressive trend of the world," said Lin Bocheng, Secretary-General of the China Foundation for Human Rights Development.

"Human rights is a issue of internal affairs of a country in essence," Lin said while commenting on China's victory in foiling an anti-China motion tabled by the United States at the 57th Session of the United Nations Commission on Human Rights.

The United States has desperately vilified and distorted the human rights records of other countries, and interfered in the internal affairs of other countries, Lin said.

"Naturally it was strongly opposed by people around the world, " he said.

He said the United States, which wantonly touted its own human rights model and values and imposed its will on others, is inevitably condemned and spurned by the people of the world.

Lin also criticized the United States for using double- standards on the human rights issue. While attacking human rights situation in other countries, it seldom talked about its own human rights problems, he said.

Lin said the United States has always been finding faults with others and provocative in the human rights issue, which is incompatible with the atmosphere that people in different countries want to cooperate with each other in promoting the development of the human rights cause.
