Qian Qichen Discusses WTO Entry with U.S. Senator

Vice-Premier Qian Qichen and visiting U.S. Senator Ernest Hollings discussed China's impending accession to the World Trade Organization at their meeting in Beijing Monday.

Qian said China is busying revising laws and regulations to make them conform to the WTO rules, while familiarizing its entrepreneurs with the rules.

Sen. Hollings said that the business circle of the United States is interested in the prospect of more investment in China after China's entry into the WTO.

Referring to China's winning the right to host the 2008 Olympic Games, he said he expects China could join in December the " Economic Olympics," a term he used to describe the WTO.

Qian expressed the hope that more U.S. congressmen will visit China to promote mutual understanding and cooperation.
