Concert Held to Promote Peace and Friendship

A vocal concert on peace and friendship was held in Beijing Wednesday. The singers sang poems and lyrics written by the late Chairman Mao Zedong, the King of Cambodia Norodom Sihanouk and the late Marshal Chen Yi. Other songs were on world peace, Sino-Russian friendship and Sino-Indian friendship.

The singers are from the Beijing-based Baroque Chamber Chorus, which is affiliated with the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries.

The association's president Chen Haosu, and more than 200 diplomats, musicians and journalists attended the concert.

The Baroque Chamber Chorus consists of both Chinese and foreign musicians and music fans, aiming to promote cultural exchanges between different countries. It was founded in 1994.
