China Repeats Its Sovereignty Over Nansha

China holds indisputable sovereignty over the Nansha Islands and adjacent sea areas in the South China Sea, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Zhu Bangzao told a press conference Tuesday in Beijing.

He made the remark in response to a question about a news report in Vietnam which said Vietnam would set up government bodies on the Nansha Islands.

Zhu said China is seriously concerned about the report and has demanded Vietnam to clarify the matter.

He reiterated that any other country's unilateral actions over the Nansha Islands constitute an infringement of China's sovereignty, and are therefore illegal and have no effect.
