Entrepreneurs Allowed to Join in Politics in Beijing

Managers who have worked in share-holding, foreign-funded or private enterprises for over three years are qualified to run for a total of 39 posts, said Zhao Jiaqi, deputy director of the organization department of the Beijing Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), Wednesday.

The posts open for election include the deputy directors of departments under the Beijing Municipal Committee of the CPC, Beijing Municipal Government and high-ranking administrators of enterprises affiliated to the Municipal Government.

The aim of the selection is to permit more outstanding personnel in the private sector to enter Beijing's governmental departments as a part of personnel reform, said Zhao.

Beijing welcomes qualified managers, including those from other regions of China and those from overseas, to compete for the posts, no matter whether they are members of the CPC, Zhao said.

The selection will begin on July 26, said Zhao, adding that there is a one-year probation. "If the selected personnel fail in the probation, they will be relieved of the post."
