Publish Logs to Lodge Complaints

The move is part of the Shenzhen government's effort to increase efficiency and enhance government transparency with the ultimate aim of building an honest and clean government.

"People from all circles are encouraged to come forward with advice and complaints about such things as policies, working efficiency and staff manners via the website (www.shenzhen.gov.cn),'' said local government spokesman Hu Aiming.

"Also, citizens, as well as investors, can learn about the government's latest policies and related information through the website,'' he added.

He said a special team will be responsible for handling suggestions and will deliver complaints to the right departments within one working day.

Officials will have to give an explanation if complaints are not handled within 30 days. The local government will also have to make suggestions or offer solutions to problems, he said.

When making suggestions, people will have to register personal information such as their name, phone number and e-mail address in order to prevent false allegations.

But Hu pledged to maintain absolute secrecy over the personal information and said anyone who complained would be well protected.
