Large Water Source Discovered in Ningxia

A new underground water source which can generate 50,000 cubic meters of water daily has been discovered in suburban Yinchuan, capital of north China’s Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region.

Local authorities said that the water produced meets state drinking water standards. The water source can be used for 20 consecutive years.

A total of six underground water sources have been exploited around Yinchuan in recent years. They daily produce 25,000 to 150,000 cubic meters of water.

Water shortage is one of major problems in the development of west China region and the discovery of the water sources will ease the water shortage in Yinchuan and the areas around, which saw rapid economic growth over the past years.
