Chinese Vice President Ends Visit to Britain

Chinese Vice President Hu Jintao winded up his five-day official visit to Britain on Thursday and headed for French city of Lyon to continue his five-nation tour.

Sir Erric Milligan, the mayor of Edinburgh, British Ambassador to China Sir Anthony Galsworthy and Chinese Ambassador to Britain Ma Zhengang went to see the vice president off at the airport.

Earlier on Thursday, Hu, who arrived here from London on Wednesday, met Lord Browne, president of the multi-national BP (Beyond Petroleum) company.

In London, Hu and British Prime Minister Tony Blair focused on Sino-British relations during their meeting. He also called on Queen Elizabeth II on Wednesday.

Britain is the second leg of the Chinese vice president's trip which has already taken him to Russia. After visiting France, Hu will fly to Spain and Germany.
