Chinese Vice-Premier Wu Bangguo met here Monday with Alexander Meigs Haig Jr., former Secretary of State of the United States.

Wu expressed appreciation for Haig's efforts to promote Sino-U. S. relations, and exchanged views with Haig over issues of common concern.

Haig is in China to participate in an international forum in north China's port city of Tianjin.
