China, Malta Sign Treaty for Cooperation on Drug Control

A treaty of cooperation on combating illegal trafficking and abuse of tranquilizers and stimulants was signed between China and Malta on Monday.

The treaty was signed after Minister of Chinese Public Security Jia Chunwang held talks with the Minister of Interior of Malta Tonio Borg Monday afternoon.

Jia said that the treaty will help further strengthen the cooperation between China and Malta in the area of drug control.

Jia said both China and Malta are faced with the problems of drug abuse, and take the same stand on drug control. It is very necessary for the two sides to exchange views and conduct cooperation in this regard, he said.

Although the two countries are far from each other, they have worked well in many fields, Jia added.

During the talks, the two sides also reached some consensus in deepening the ties between the public security and interior departments of the two countries.
