Chinese WTO Delegation Eyes Two Major Tasks: Chief Negotiator

The Chinese Government Delegation arrived in Doha Tuesday night to attend the fourth Ministerial Conference of the World Trade Organization to be held this week.

The 28 members of the Chinese delegation include deputy head and Chief Negotiator of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation (MOFTEC) Long Yongtu, and officials from a number of departments of the Chinese Government. MOFTEC Minister Shi Guangsheng is scheduled to arrive here Wednesday.

Long said in an interview on his arrival that the there are two major tasks for his delegation, first to finish the formal approval procedure to enable China a full member of the WTO and second to prepare for the launch of a new round of multi-lateral trade talks.
