Painter's Former Residence Reopens

The refurbished former residence of the late renowned landscape painter Li Keran (1907-1989) was reopened to the public Friday in Xuzhou, Jiangsu Province, in east China.

An exhibition of paintings by Li and his sons was opened on the same day.

An outstanding modern master of traditional Chinese painting, Li built up a reputation as a master of new landscape painting.

To commemorate the painter's spirit of devotion to traditional Chinese painting, the local government rebuilt the house in 1985.

The renovation work was done to improve the indoor facilities, and add articles to further illuminate Li's life and work.
