Chinese Foreign Minister Tang Jiaxuan said Sunday in Bandar Seri Begawan that China will co-sponsor together with Brunei the APEC high-level meeting on human capacity building in 2001.

The Chinese minister told the 12th ministerial meeting of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) that China welcomes the participation by senior officials and renowned personages of the scientific and technological field and the business communities in the meeting.

The Chinese minister said HRD is a part and parcel of China's strategy of social and economic development, and China has adopted a series of positive measures to nurture and develop human resources market, establish social security system, carry out re- employment projects and develop China's western region.
