After 11-days of online bidding, an American couple won the adoption, offering six thousand, one hundred US dollars. The panda's name is Mei Xiang, which means beautiful and sweet. The donation will go to support her, and future panda generations.

The adoption program is sponsored by the US-based company - Twinbays International, and is supported by the China Wildlife Conservation Association. Money from the adoptions benefit pandas from the Sichuan Wolong Panda Research Center. Sponsorship is available to individuals with citizenship in the US or Canada, and to corporations with US or Canadian headquarters.

Successful sponsors will be allowed to name their panda. They will also receive an official panda adoption certificate as well as written weekly updates and videos of their panda's activities.
