Shenzhen to Launch 93 Key Projects

Shenzhen has planed to launch 93 key projects this year including the pre-process project of large sized integrated circuits (LST), Foxconn Information Technological Park, Shenzhen Peking University Biological Valley and the first phase project of the Shenzhen subway, etc., Shen Shicheng, director of Shenzhen Planning Bureau, said recently. Of the 93 projects, 43 are hi-tech ones with an annual investment to exceed 10.1 billion yuan, up 100 percent over that of last year.

The focal projects in the development of hi-tech industry are the manufacture of LST and the promotion of software industry, the matter of first importance for the economic development in Shenzhen this year.

According to Shen, the 43 key hi-tech projects for this year include: the construction of Integrated Circuit Industrial Park, Hi-Tech Industrial Park of Founder Group, Powerise Shenzhen Institute, Foxconn 21st Century Information Technological Park, Shiyan Hi-tech Industrial Base of Great Wall Computer Group, Huawei Slope Land Base Scientific Research Center, and the development of the third generation mobile communication system, the third generation MP, high definition television (HDTV) and router, etc; the construction of Peking University Biological Valley, biological engineering industrial base of Sinopec Group, Biological Medical Park, etc; the development of nitride-gallium base semiconductor materials and appliance, nanometer ceramic, and lithium ion batteries, etc.

In regard to the key projects of the tertiary and the primary industries, Shen denoted that the priority will be given to the construction of the second phase project of Shekou container dock, the first phase project of Shenzhen subway, Tonggu course, Conference & Exhibition Center, water supply network trunk project, Pinghu Logistics Base, South China Logistics Center, wide band network projects and modern agricultural pilot projects, etc.

Shen added that the gross annual investment in all the key projects this year is 18.7 billion yuan, of which, 5.7 billion yuan are provided by Shenzhen municipal government, the rest to be pooled in from foreign investment, loans by financial institutions and the enterprises themselves.
