China Telecom to Upgrade National ADSL Network
Adjust font size:

China Telecom Co., Ltd., the country's major telecommunications provider, has said that it will upgrade its ADSL network speed in most parts of China.

Sources from China Telecom said the upgrading work will involve millions of web users in 26 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities.

After the innovation, web subscribers may enjoy the high-speed Internet service, easy access to video conference and IPTV and other modern media business.

China Telecom takes ADSL as its future direction in expanding Internet business. But many ADSL subscribers complained the current 512 Kbps and 1Mbps connecting speeds are too slow to meet the demand, especially when BT download is popular in China.

China Telecom hopes the upgrade may bring more subscribers to its ADSL network.

The Shanghai-based foreign-funded provider Alcatel-sbell and the leading Chinese provider Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd have been chosen as partners for the large-scale upgrade program, said sources.
