Beijing to Build Park of Ancient Rampart

Beijing, the Chinese capital with a history of more than 3,000 years, will build a theme park around an ancient rampart (wall) located close to Beijing Railway Station.

The park is designed to enclose the last existing section of the rampart built in Ming Dynasty (1531-1548), which is about 200 meters long, 2.7 meters wide, and less than six meters high.

The park, to occupy an area of three hectares, is expected to protect the ruins of Ming rampart while reducing noise and car exhaust pollution.

Beijing first served as the capital city for Yan Kingdom over 3, 000 years ago. It still has ruins of its rampart built in Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368).
