A senior official of the Chinese Communist Party (CPC) Thursday called on folk literature and art workers to go among the masses to enrich and prosper the country's folk literature and art.
Ding Guangen, member of Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, made the call while meeting with representatives attending the 6th national conference of the Chinese Folk Literature and Art Association Thursday.
Ding spoke highly of the representatives' achievements they have made in the folk literature and art, citing the publication of the three sets of books on Chinese folk literature by the association. The books will be of great help to understanding Chinese history and the exchange of folk cultures, he said.
Ding hoped that the new leaders of the association will unite closely and further invigorate Chinese folk literature and art.
Feng Jicai was elected Thursday as the new chairman of the association.
