17 Students Out of Danger

A total of 17 out of the 81 middle-school students believed to have suffered from food poisoning have left hospital in Nanzhuang Town, south China's Guangdong Province as of Friday.

Local sources said that at around 11 pm, Wednesday, the first group of students at the school became ill and were sent to hospital. The second group of students who started getting fevers and began vomiting later were sent to the hospital from Wednesday night to Thursday noon.

Doctors said no one is in serious physical danger at present. About 150 doctors and nurses from the town's hospitals and clinics participated in the emergency treatment given to the sick students.

The cause of the food poisoning is under investigation.
