11th Panchen Lama Visits Shanghai and Zhejiang

After ending his tour, Bainqen Erdini Qoigyijabu said, "I have had a taste personally of the great achievements of the motherland thanks to the reform and opening-up drive launched. I deeply understand the greatness of the Communist Party of China now and feel the warmth of the socialist family under the glorious policy of the Chinese Communist Party."

The Eleventh Panchen Lama visited historical and cultural scenic spots and conducted Buddhist service exchanges with related circles in Shanghai and Zhejiang, having been strongly impressed by their advances made pursuant to the modernization drive. In Shanghai Museum, He showed high interest in visiting the "Tibet Cultural Relics Show". After visiting Shanghai Longhua Temple and burning joss sticks to the Buddhist images, he said, "I saw the religious places here have got great attentions and protection. Buddhist ceremonies are conducted in a very good order. I feel the greatness of the religious policy of the CPC once again. After several days of inspection and study, I understand more about Tibetan Buddhism and Han Buddhism as well as the cultural ties between the two religions".

Bainqen Erdini Qoigyijabu also went on inspection and study on the situation of economic cooperation and cultural exchanges between Shanghai, Zhejiang and Tibet in recent years. During his visit, local leaders from concerned departments told him that in the new century Shanghai and Zhejiang will continue strengthening exchanges and cooperation with Tibet and intensifying the work to aid Tibet as always under the leadership of the CPC. The Eleventh Panchen Lama expressed his gratitude to other brother regions across the country for their vigorous support to Tibet.
