Hostel Receives No Hands in the City

Although hostels are widely welcomed in the U.S. and European countries, it's hard to find the counterparts in Shanghai. Insiders said it's because travellers in Shanghai prefer more luxurious hotels.

Shanghai has only one such hostel, Pu Jiang Hotel, which offers 150 rooms. But only six of them are for domestic travellers.

Youth Hotel is popular among the travellers who prefer self-help trip. The International Youth Hotel Federation (IYHF) issues guest cards to allow the members enjoy cheaper but cozy apartments around the world.

To date, the assioation enrolled more than 10,000 members in China. Shanghai has ony 180.

China now has more than 20 such hostels in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangdong province.
