The Communist Party of China (CPC) has been urged to expel Li Jiating, a former governor of Southwest China's Yunnan Province, from the Party for taking bribes and other forms of illegal behavior.
The Standing Committee of the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection has proposed that Li, also a former deputy secretary of the Yunnan Provincial Committee of the CPC, be deprived of his alternate membership of the 15th Central Committee of the CPC.
In addition, it has urged that Li be dismissed from his administrative post.
Since Li has violated the criminal law, the Commission said, the case should be transferred to the appropriate judicial department,in accordance with the law.
The Commission investigated Li's case with the approval of the CPC Central Committee.
It claims that Li took bribes totaling 1.19 million yuan from nine persons, and arranged illegal gains for other people by abusing his position. His son, the Commission said, took bribes totaling 20.49 million yuan.
In addition, the Commission accuses Li of having adulterous relations with a married woman, and procuring some 30 million yuan in illegal income for her.
