General Commemorated for Reunifying Taiwan

Commemorative activities were staged in Jinjiang in east China's Fujian Province Monday to mark the 380th anniversary of General Shi Lang's birth and the 318th anniversary of his success in peacefully reunifying Taiwan with the mainland.

General Shi was a famous strategist in early Qing Dynasty (1644- 1911). He put forward and carried out a series of polices , which led to Taiwan's peaceful reunification with the mainland 318 years ago.

The general also took effective measures to promote economic development in Taiwan and encourage exchanges across the Taiwan Straits.

Year by year, General Shi has remained a hero of Chinese people for his patriotism and far-sightedness.
