Beijing Announces Its 10 Best Architectural Designs

The list of Beijing's 10 best architectural designs of 2001 was made public Friday, and champion has been selected to design the Olympic Park for the 2008 Olympic Games here.

Winners of the annual architectural competition are chosen in public voting by Beijing residents.

The other top designs were for the Fortune Building in the central business district in Beijing; the Zhongguancun Educational Park for the Graduate School under the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS); the renovation project for the Zoological Institute under the CAS; the office building for the Higher People's Court of Beijing; the indoor pool of Tsinghua University; the Beijing Investment Building; the Building of Geology and Minerals; the new hall of the Capital Museum; and the Xizhimen traffic hub network in the city.
