Chinese Customs Seizes Three Million Smuggled Discs

Customs officers in Shantou City in south China's Guangdong Province recently seized 3.165 million smuggled compact discs from a small iron boat, the biggest haul in the city so far this year.

The catch included 500,000 blank discs and 55,000 pornographic discs, the officers said.

A customs patrol boat went to sea at 8:00 p.m. on June 4 when informed that a vessel suspected of carrying smuggled discs was heading to a local port.

The suspect vessel managed to escape the pursuing patrol boat in windy and wet weather, but experienced officers did not give up and eventually found their target in the port after a massive search.

The smugglers damaged their boat before escaping but left the discs there.

The case was being further investigated.
