Sources from Hong Kong told that Li Yundi, youngest gold winner of the International Frederic Chopin Piano Competition, will turn up in Hong Kong and give a performance at 19:30 at the Culture Center of Hong Kong on January 7, 2001.
Li Yundi, an 18-year-old student studying at Shenzhen Art School, won the gold at the 14th International Frederic Chopin Piano Competition, which was held in Warsaw October 2000. So he became the youngest, also the first Chinese gold winner of the International Frederic Chopin Piano Competition.
According to the Leisure and Culture Services Department of HKSAR, sponsor of the performance, unusual warm welcome and ardent love have been shown by people for the coming performance in Hong Kong and all tickets have been sold out just in a matter of a few hours.
