Digital Earthquake Monitoring Network in Jiangsu

East China's Jiangsu Province has set up a Digital Earthquake Precursor Monitoring Network, local sources said.

Seismological experts here said the network will help the province collect and process earthquake information and data at a faster rate.

It took at least half an hour to detect the time, place and degree of an earthquake in the past. The network will shorten the time down to within 15 minutes, possibly even 8 minutes, seismologists said.

The network will also increase the accuracy of seismological information-collecting. Unattended monitoring or partially unattended observation is made available with the help of the network, according to the experts.
