Faking Academic Credentials shall be Accused of Criminal Liability

China Supreme People's Court and Supreme People's Procuratorate recently gave an explanation on the measurement of penalty of the criminal cases of transacting and selling faked academic and degree credentials of colleges and universities.

Anyone who forges stamps of colleges and universities to make faked academic and degree credentials shall be charged for forging stamps of institutions according to Clause 2 of Article 280 of the Criminal Law. Anyone who deliberately sells the faked academic and degree credentials made with mock stamps shall be sued as accomplice for forging stamps of institutions.

The judiciary explanation was passed respectively by the Adjudication Committee of Supreme People's Court and the Procuratorial Committee of Supreme People's Procuratorate and will take effect as from July 5.

According to Clause 2 of Article 280 of the Criminal Law, anyone who forges stamps of companies, enterprises, institutions and people's organizations shall be sentenced to imprisonment of not longer than three years, to be put under detention, in custody or forfeited of political rights.
